Girl Scout Eco-Action Day October 1st, 2016 “Truth Seekers for Water”

On Saturday, October 1st, 2016 we assisted in a science workshop for Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts held at the River Center in Jupiter, FL!  The theme was “Truth Seekers for Water.”  This program focused on water resources, household water uses, wastewater treatment solutions, and balancing the water budget.

Volunteering at Palm Beach County MathCounts Competition!

Palm Beach County MathCountsOn Saturday, February 21st 2015 a few SWE collegiate and professional members went out to volunteer at Palm Beach County MathCounts Competition at Gulf Stream School. SWE was in charge of registration and assisted in scoring after rounds of questions! 15 teams (130 students) came out for this fantastic event. MathCounts is providing today’s students with the foundation for success in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. MathCounts is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and territory.

Eco-Action Girls Scouts Event, April 2015: Sustainability

On Saturday, April 11th 2015 SWE participated in our semi-annual Girl Scouts outreach program. It was half-day, hands-on seminar about sustainability where our members had the opportunity to assist the scouts with various engineering related activities.

Eco-Action Girls Scouts Event, Oct 2015: Fish Like A Girl

On Saturday, October 3rd 2015 we were to assist in this science workshop for older (Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador) Girl Scouts. Inspired by the “Run Like A Girl” video, we know that there are lots of things that we can do “like a girl.” Girls learnt the basics of fishing including knot tying, tackle, and casting.
